Who is Thor? Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1962, Thor is the prince of Asgard, a world in a parallel dimension above Earth. Due to Thor's arrogance and lack of control, his father Odin banning him to Earth to teach him the virtue of humility, stripping him of his mystical hammer Mjölnir and his powers. Without memories of his origin, Thor was placed in the mortal form of a medical student named Donald Blake. From then on, he spent much of his time on Earth becoming a renowned surgeon working in New York. Odin tricked Blake into taking a vacation in Scandinavia, where Thor was born. During this vacation, he encountered some aliens called Kronans who chased him to a cave where he hid. Furious, he struck a rock with a staff used as a cane, transforming back into his original form as the God of Thunder and driving the Kronans away. From this point, he began to regain his old memories as an Asgardian, until Odin decided it was time to tell him the truth and explain why he was banned. Thor has often had a troubled relationship with his father and the rest of the Norse pantheon. He and his brother, the trickster god Loki, are rivals at best and mortal enemies at worst, having clashed on numerous occasions. Thor is a founding member of the Avengers and one of Marvel's most powerful heroes.
